| Hi all, I have been battling illness with another of my dogs... Hurley my 2 year old Siberian Husky. Hurley started phenobarbitol in October for epilepsy. A few weeks later he developed a dry patch inside his ear that we fought for a couple of months with over the counter meds...nothing worked. I took him to the Vet where he was diagnosed with allergic dermatitis, and given Genesis Spray. Now the problem has started around his eyes, first one, then the other. He is currently being treated for Zinc deficiency. This is where I become concerned, he is on prednisone for two months, and a multivitamin with extra zinc. Unfortunately calcium interferes with absorption of zinc, I need to find a different supplement. I have read that too much zinc can bring on AIHA. Honestly as much as I love you all, I don't want to be here again as one struggling with an AIHA dog... done that twice already. Does anyone have any idea how much zinc it takes to cause a problem. I really feel like I am in a catch 22 situation again, the cure can cause more harm. thanks in advance, Julie By the way, I can not post from my AOL Acct. I have read that others have the same problem. Is it because of the batch IP's? |

| Julie- Yea, i definitely feel what kind of anxiety you must be having here... I don't have anything worth adding but I just wanted to really wish Hurley the best and say I will be praying for the lil' guy. We also do not want AIHA to strike any dog ever again |
