Whilst at the vets yesterday I was told that the liquid form of Zantec (230ml) that Trixie is on costs about £80!! The vet mentioned Ranitidine? Tricia

Hi Tricia, Ranitidine is basically the generic name for Zantac and it's much cheaper. My dog Tipsi is on Famotidine which is the generic brand of Pepcid AC. It saves us a lot of money! :)

Hi Layla. Thanks for your post. I have just phoned an online company, PetMed and they are selling Ranitidine in tablet form 60@150 mg for around £5.20. My insurance coverage I'm sure has come to an end now and I seriously need to find other ways of getting Trixie's medication. Tricia

Tricia, We used plain old generic pepcid over the counter. Works pretty much the same for very little cost. Vets often keep a store of meds that are prescriptions that match things you can buy otc. Check with your vet if they will approve otc pepcid. Patrice
