Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - yippee for Madison

Hi all, just a quick up date... Madison went off Pred 2 weeks ago and i took her in for her blood test yesterday - i was very nervous... well she had the highest reading to date 45... we were all very excited - now she is down to 1/2 tablet of Imuran every 3rd day... all she needs to do now is lose some weight. i have noticed that her appetite has dropped off so hopefully it wont take too long.. I am so proud of my baby for fighting so hard over the last 5 months. I just wish everyone else's dogs could have the same results as Madison Samantha

what fantastic and encouraging news! we are at about 5 months now and hoping to start reducing pred next visit in july. Charlie is totally off azathiaprine and seems to be doing good. doodle hugs

Awesome news for Madison! The weight will come off now that she is off pred. Keiko is a 7 pound dachsund and she went up to just over 10 pounds while on pred and is now back down to 7 pounds. I was so happy thal all that weight came off :) High Five for Madison! Jess and Keiko

Great news for Madison!!! It is really a wonderful feeling isn't it. I know what you mean about the weight, I am hoping we can help Holly shed a few pounds also, but so hard after they have been used to eating so much because of the prednisone. Linda
