Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Wylie relapse, great news!

I dont want to jinx myself, but I am doing the happy dance now. Wylie had a relapse on 10/25, her blood count was down to 27. On the 7th it was up to 31 and yesterday up to 39! She is also on Biopreparation. Dont know if this is helping. I asked about this here when she was first diagnosed, ordered it but never used it. I printed off all of the info about 8 pages and gave it to my vet thinking I wont here from him. Bless his heart, he called me back later in the afternoon and had read it. He said he takes seaweed. His only concern was where do they get the seaweed because some can have high metals due to poor harvesting, but he gave the green light. I am going to ask the vet on Monday to wean her off the azi. I was so dazed when the vet told me she had a relapse, I knew in the back of my mind why put her on azi, but didnt ask. She is 11 years old, I want as little as drugs as possible in her body and I think she is responding to the pred. She did so well on just pred with her first bout. Lauurie

Another update, just got back and Wylie is up to 42!! woo hoo!! Amazing for an 11 year old with no spleen. Dont know if its because of the bioprep or not, but to go from 27 to 42 in 3 weeks is fantastic. Laurie
