Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Wiley is gone

Hi everyone,
Very sad day today. I had posted earlier that Wiley wasn't interested in food or treats yesterday. Late into the night he seemed uncomfortable and in pain. Brought him in to emergency and they discovered he was in kidney failure. They hooked him up to an IV but he was still unable to produce urine. We made the decision to end his suffering and he was put to rest this morning.

Thanks to all for the support and information that I received on this board.

Dear Lisa -- I'm sorry to read the news that you had to let Wiley go. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is to let them go, even though your heart is breaking. As you said, his pain and suffering are over -- he's in a better place. I hope your memories of your wonderful life with Wiley comfort you. And always remember you did the best you could for him with the information you had available.

Dear Lisa,
I am so sorry you had to make this hard decision. It is o hard, but sometimes it is the only thing we can do, end their suffering and let them go in peace and dignity. I hope the good memories you have from happier times will heal your broken heart in time.

Dear Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear that Wiley is gone.

You could not have anticipated this turn of events. Sometimes we can try very hard to make things right and still not be able to make it happen.

You honored your love for Wiley by making a difficult decision. I know that in his doggy way he was happy that you were there with him.

Please accept my sincere condolences.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. This is one of the hardest decisions a good doggy mom has to make. You did everything you could for Wiley and you saw that the pain was too much for him. What you did makes you even more of a special person!

Take comfort in knowing that Wiley is likely playing with lots of great dogs at the bridge now.

Run free sweetheart.
