I know we say to not get hung up so much on the cbc numbers, but I am wandering why Wylies ALT and PLT is fluctuating so much. And the decrease of her RBC. First, can diet cause this? I was out of town last week and my mom gave Wylie my other dogs food by mistake, EVO Beef which is a very rich high protein meat diet. I am surprised she didn’t get sick. Other info, Wylie stopped her last pred on 3/9. I complained of her terrible gas, and she was put on a week of Metrizoidle. As you can see her on 4/6, her ALT and RBC were down, then back up on 5/13. My vet thought maybe she had an infection that the metrizoidel helped but didn’t knock so he put her on doxy for 2 weeks, I know that can cause ALT to rise but she has been off for 2 weeks, so I am wondering if its because she wa son doxy which can cause the ALT to rise and to just give it time to lower. See her PLT high low high, so high so any thoughts? And should I be concerned about the low RBC Range 6/17 5/13 4/6 3/16 10-118 ALT 503 553 306 587 58-73 MCV 80 77 19-24 MCH 31 32 28-40 MCHC 39 42 6-17 WBC 10 8 5.5-8.5 RBC 4.5 5.01 4.8 5.5-8.5 PLT 815 607 798 PCV 41 47 45 |

| I just heard from my vet, he said not to be too concerned about the low RBC as their machine dilutes it. As for the ALT, I mentioned could the food cause a high ALT, he said good question, he wasnt sure since the liver has to work harder to digest the protein. He thinks something is chronic is going on with the liver since after her first round of AIHA last year and med free her ALT went down to 180 and suggested a possible biopsy of her liver. We talked about her age since she is at least 12. And discussed since she is doing fine otherwise with lots of energy, big appetite, to just leave it and monitor it, And the platelet count, he sounds like he doesnt know where to go with that says he sees dogs with fluctuating platelets and that the bone marrow is stimulating the production of the platelets but has no explanation. Wylie is still not in the danger zone of that so we will just monitor Laurie |
