Hello Everyone, a bit of good news as I know we can all use it here. Summer's HCT is steady at 38 for over two weeks. We have been weaning her off pred, she now only takes 12.5mg every other day. So we will be taking her off of it. She will stay on the azathioprine every other day for now. She has gained over 10lbs since this whole mess started. Poor girl. But she is acting almost herself now and is walking at least 3.5 miles a day. Carrie and Summer

Hi Carrie, a bit of good news? I would say this is a lot of good news! I am so happy Summer is stable at 38 and starting to be her old self again. I must say I am a bit concerned about dropping the prednisone all together at 12.5mg. but then I am always on the cautious side. The adrenal glands have to be awakened very slowly or they will not start to work at a proper rate. This could mean a relapse. I am sorry, I don't recall all of Summers story and I just might be overly paranoid. I just know that reductions are usually done slower. Best wishes, Brigitte & the poodle boys

Brigitte, she is only on it every other day. We have weaned her way down, from 150 everyday when she was first DX. She will still be on azathioprine which the vet said should keep her suppressed. I am home so,I am going to be able to keep a VERY close eye on her. Fortunately, I have read the protocol her Doc is using, and she is not his first case by any means. I will keep everyone updated. Thank you for your concern. Carrie and Summer

Carrie, Congrats to you and Summer. I hope that there is no problems with stopping the Pred and her numbers continue to rise. Penny
