Recently our dog Ben, Lurcher has been sick several times a day. Initally early in the morning. Recently he has stopped eating. He seems lethargic, even listful and we feel it seems in appearance that he may have similar symptoms as when his litter brother was diagnosed as having Evans syndrome, after two weeks of refusing to eat and vet monitroing. What can we do? PCV seems quite important...

Andy, Anytime you have a dog who is lethargic, listless and does not eat, get him to the vet ASAP!!!

Andy, absolutely, I second Joanne's advice. That kind of behavior's not normal in a healthy dog. Please get him to a vet ASAP! Having said that, I hope he'll be OK.

Andy -- you do need to get Ben to a veterinarian. The symptoms you describe could be one of several serious health issues. Dogs can't speak to us when they don't feel well, so we have to look at their behavior for clues. When a dog stops eating and has no energy, those are big signs to get medical attention. Please get Ben to the vet and please keep us posted.

Hi Andy, I see that you've written that Ben has been monitored by a vet, maybe you need to see a different vet who has more knowledge of these symptoms. I lost Holly in September to AIHA after just two days from first being lethargic and not eating, initially I put it down to being a bit under the weather as had not really come across AIHA before other than on a recent tv prog about pedigree dogs and the hereditary diseases they can suffer from. Now I know just how swift a killer it is I will never be so complacent again. Sadly vets in the UK do not seem to be as clued up on this and in other countries and I would urge you to make use of this site for extra information for your vet as it may be something they had not considered or even know about. I really hope that it is nothing serious and that Ben recovers soon. All th ebest Keri
