Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Uptae on Zoe-Nine week old pupw/low PCV

Hi There,
I wanted to give you all an update on Zoe, I just took her bact to the vet today. She is now 11 weeks old, back to 1.4 lbs (the weight she was when she got sick at 8 weeks old), she is eating, playing, and actingl like the adorable puppy that she is. She has been on Predisone for almost two weeks now. The vet took the PCV test and she is now at 16! Up from 9 when she first started the Predisone. The vet is thrilled but is cautioning me that we still do not know what has caused the issue in the first place (I still think it was the vaccine)and she is not out of the woods. HE said this could be a lifelong issue for her and that we should continue the Predisone as long as it continues to keep her PCV rising. We will not be able for vaccinate her and he told me I need to keep her away from any envoronment or dogs that could carry disease or illness becausee of the immuno suppressive side effects of the predisone. He calls Zoe his mystery pup because he has never seen IMHA affect a dog so young. We are very thrilled right now, but are continuing to take it a day at a time. I want to thank everyone that took the time to reply or email me. All of the support, suggestions and prayers are wonderful and very much apprecitated! If anyone out there has a story that is similar to mine with a pup so young, I would really appreciate hearing about it. I really want to understand what has happened to her and what I can do to keep her healthy and strong.

Peggy,
That is great news that her PCV is rising and she is playing and eating. Yes, it is early on in the fight but rejoice in the positives!
