| Today, 12 weeks after Sofie was diagnosed on Christmas Eve day, she took her last dose of Pred and Famotide... :-) Everything is looking good, she will have a blood test in one week to see how things looks, but she has been tapered off so slowly, I can't imagine the 10mg she has been receiving every other day is doing much at all. Please say a little prayer for her, and hope everything stays normal. I want to thank everyone for the well wishes and hopes for Sofie, she was only 5 1/2 months old when this hit her, and after reading so many sad stories and such horrible side effects of the medications, she has done so well. No side effects at all, the 3 pounds she gained are gone, no hair loss, no loss of muscle tone. I am thinking that her age helped her beat this horrible disease and keep her from having so many setbacks. I think my vet did so good, at her lowest, when most vets would have given a blood transfusion, he told me the setbacks and side effects that it could cause and we weighed the pros and cons. I opted to not have the transfusion when she was at 14% the first day, and I am so glad I waited. She started showing improvements the next day and has gone uphill ever since. I will give an update next week. I also ordered another Truman collar this morning, they are great collars and such a wonderful cause. |
