| I received this email recently from the caregiver of one of the Success Stories at the Meisha’s Hope Web site: “Hi Joanne, Well, Marty will be 10 years old this month & an 8 year survivor of AIHA/IMHA! Can you believe that? He continues to be well & we've had no related issues for quite a long time. He gets regular blood work done about twice a year and remains on 5 mg's of prednisone every other day. The doctor & I feel he is tolerating it well, with no hair loss, or other symptoms associated with the prednisone so he will remain on it for the rest of his life. He is a little forlorn now as we've lost his special buddy, Cedar, one month before his 15th birthday. Marty no longer has a "pack" and since he's always been a part of one, some how doesn't really know what to do! When he see's my son's 2 dogs you can just see him perk up.. Well, just wanted to update you on my last remaining little guy! The one we thought would never make 10!!! Surprises are great!! Regards, karon & Marty” Marty’s AIHA Success Story, May, 2004 at this URL http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/archives12.htm has now been updated to reflect his continuing successful recovery from AIHA. If you need a lift today you might want to read this story since at one time Marty had a PCV as low as 7. Marty is indeed proof that dogs CAN and DO survive AIHA/IMHA and go on to live happy, healthy lives. |
