Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Update on Daisy

I've tried twice this week to post a new thread but for some reason my threads haven't posted. In any event Daisy had another crisis. Her pcv went from 26 for a few days to 22 for a week then down to 16 on Mon and then on Wed she refused to eat her dinner, had been lethargic all day, very pale and her breathing was extremely labored. Her pcv had dropped to 13. She received another transfusion that evening and post transfusion her count rose to 30. She is pink, bottomless appetite and playing. What a wonderful sight! Hopefully this transfusion will last longer..This was her 4th transfusion since 1/24 when she was diagnosed. To say this disease is a rollercoster ride is an understatement!

Evelyn sorry to hear about Daisy and her pcv dropping, but happy to hear she has now picked up :+)

Thank you for your response. I'm hoping that this transfusion will last longer so that the meds can work. I keep teasing her that she is going to be racing around soon as this blood was from Hemopet. Dr. Dodds has been wonderful in conferring with my local vet in her treatment. My entire vets office (5 different doctors, numerous techs and receptionists)
are all on "Team Daisy" as we like to refer to it as everyone is doing everything possible for her. There is no such thing as a scheduled appt for us, just call or stop in and they are there to help.

Evelyn,
Keeping Daisy in our prayers that she can hold this time, sounds like she has a wonderful team in her corner.

Evelyn,
I am sorry Daisy is having problems but it sounds like you do have the best team working on getting her sorted out. Good luck to you both.

Not sure if this is a set back but this morning Daisy smelled her food and walked away (a first without clinical signs and when her pcv is up). Eventually gave her my other dogs food (Hill's UD) and she ate it. She is confusing me usually the non-eating is associated with a very low count.

I guess I overreacted this morning. Daisy ate a small lunch and a great dinner. I guess with this disease I'm always afraid I may miss something and be sorry later that I didn't pick up on it.
