Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - TV Show bondi vet and IMHA

IMHA was featured on Bondi Vet a reality TV vet show in Bondi Australia last night. It features among other stories a Shih Tzu with a plakelet and red blood cell crisis. The little dog receives a blood transfusion on the show direct from another dog. It also features the dangers of when a dog presents with pale gums etc. They described it as an auto-immune crises. Unfortunately the little dog is diagnosed with serious heart problems after the transfusion and does not recover.
If you with to view this episode it is on the net at www.ten.co.au/bondi-vet.htm Click on episode 3 it will show the whole half hour show after the ad shown at the start. This was one story of five different segments. It is rare to see INHA on TV.

Julie,
I am sorry the little dog didn't make it but how wonderful it is to be able to get the warning out and make people aware of this. I am on dial up so may not be able to view the show.

Hi Julie
Thanks for letting us know. Im going to watch the episode now. Ive been trying to email different shows in Aus to get some awareness out there, but never get any responses which is a shame.

Thanks again for letting us know.

Hi Julie,

I had to watch that show cause the little dog looked exactly like my Madison. Lucky for me Madison is recovering really well unlike that poor little dog. I had never heard about the disease until Madison got it so its good some shows are making people aware.
