| Trixie's staples came out last week (biopsy), the vet decided not to do another blood test there and then, and to take her in on Jan 2nd. He weighed her this time and she is now 26 kg, she has gained quite a bit. The vet suggested to increase her Azathioprine (25mg) from 1 per day to 2, 2 being given at the same time. She is still on Pred (25mg) 1 and 1/2 per day and 2 Antepsin a day (1g). He increased the Azathioprine because of the increase of weight. No doubt I shall have to wait until 5/6th Jan for the results of her blood test. Trixie seems to be okay, I guess, having said that she came up the stairs the other morning and I could hear she had to stop halfway, when she did get to the top, she was panting quite a bit, so the panting is still there, although not quite as much and her breathing is still quite laboured at times. Since she was shaved for the ultrasound/x-rays, her tummy looks huge! While I am here, I'd like to wish you all "A Very Happy Christmas" and all the very best for you and your Doggies :+) in 2008. | Hi Tricia, Being that the vet increased the imuran I would get Trixie's blood checked before the 5/6 of Janurary. That drug is known to cause bm suppression of the white blood cells, especially the neutrohils that fight infection. The extra weight is to be expected and I seriously doubt that increasing the imuran will do anything for the weight. That's from the pred. The weight will eventually come off when you are able to lower the pred. Please keep us posted. Merry Christmas to you, Trixie, and the rest of your family!!! Teresa and Jacob |

| Tricia, I am with Teresa on checking Trixie's blood sooner. I am rather surprised that your Vet would increase any thing blindly and I don't see the connection to the weight gain which is normal from the Pred as is the labored breathing. Keeping you both in my thoughts and wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a better New Year. Penny |
