The meds are working and Tori's CBC shows it! HCT 38.4 PCV 42 RBC up to 5.8 WBC down to 17.91 (slightly elevated as she is now being treated for UTI) NUE slightly high, but ok PLT 205 slightly lower, but within normal range Have decreased last dose of pred at night to 2.5. I have to give her Clavamox twice a day for the urinary infection for 2 weeks. We go back for CBC in 3 weeks, unless I see a negative change. The vet was very happy to see her numbers. We think she is steadily improving. Thank GOD, for informed vets and vets who take the time to research the best treatment plans. Glad our vets listened to Dr. Dodds protocol. If after all the care our pets get, they aren't able to kept up the fight we know we have done the best we can. Unfortunately, this disease isn't always caught in time and our pets don't always respond to the meds. Which reseach foundations could use our dollars to find more about the cause or trigger? And thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. Just glad we have a positive report to share. Keeping all of you in our prayers! Blessings, Cindi & Tori (Evans Syndrome)

Cindi, I am thrilled to hear Tori's good news! Hooray! Me and the poodles are doing the happy dance. As you say the outcome is not always good and we can call ourselves lucky if everything falls into place. Good vet that is willing to go the extra mile, strong dog that is ready to fight, good care taking and ready to pay the horrendous bills. Unfortunately even if all is there, things can still go wrong. I speak from experience....There is still so much that has to be learned and There is the Meisha's Hope Foundation (Morris Animal Foundation) that is funding research into AIHA/IMHA. http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/newhope.htm It has been created by Joanne Dickson in memory of her girl Meisha who survived the disease by many years. Thanks to Joanne we have the Meisha's Hope Website, the success story's page and the Meisha's Hope Foundation. I did a few fundraisers for MH and it really makes me happy to support the foundation in the name of all dogs. The ones that survive and the ones that left us. The sale of MH bandannas is an ongoing fundraiser. Best wishes to you and Tori. Keep doing what you are doing, it is clearly working! Brigitte 7 the poodle boys

Cindi, What great news that Tori is steadly improving. I am so very happy for you both. As Brigitte mentioned you can donate to the Meisha's Hope AIHA/IMHA Fund #338 at Morris Animal Foundation. This link will tell you about the Fund http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/newhope.htm and you can donate online to the fund at the Morris Animal Foundation Web site. http://www.morrisanimalfoundation.org/meisha Every single penny donated to this Fund goes to sponsoring studies on the disease. Not one cent is used for fund raising or administration. The Fund is currently sponsoring some very exciting studies on the disease. Tell Tori to keep up the great work. Please give her a big hug from both me and my Canine gal, Maggie!

Excellent report! This is so good to hear! May I please also post Dr. Dodds' links? I found the support and services she provided to me when Chance was sick were priceless and she did not charge me anything for them. She is not directly involved in research for AIHA (afaik), but she freely provides her AIHA and bone marrow failure protocols to any vet that requests them and will continue to provide consultation on test results. She is deeply involved in The Rabies Challenge, research with the goal of showing that the rabies vaccination is effective for 7 years. This will protect future dogs from having to endure rabies boosters every three years (some areas are 1 year). This will hopefully reduce the number of canine autoimmune diseases. http://www.rabieschallengefund.org/ Dr. Dodds' non-profit organization Hemopet provides cost effective lab services and blood products around the world to dog owners. Jean is an expert in canine immunity and blood diseases. http://www.hemopet.org/donate.html my best patrice
