Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Timmy back in critical care

Hello Everyone,
Still on the AIHA rollercoaster.
Timmy came home today with a pcv of 30 up from 28 yesterday with a pretty good appetite but of course week.()(Boy i was soo happy for him!!!)
after cross matched transfusion #2 and the IGIG.He wasn't home longer than 2 hours and started labored breathing and like he was trying to cough and couldn't.
Back over we went to the weekend emergency animal hospital and he has some fluid in the lungs but,
not much. The problem is 2 of the veins that are coming from one of his lungs are really enlarged. The vet said it is from the transfusion and IGIG fluid and his system trying to handle it .You are not allowed to stay at this place so i had to leave the little boy there
in a oxygen cage till they can get him stabilized and give him some meds.I convinced the vet to put him on the low dose asprin but he said he couldn't till he is over the current crisis because the thinning of the blood
with the IGIG may not be a good thing right now.I plan on pet tinic and milk thistle as a support after he gains some ground.I don't know anywhere else but the transfusions in my neck of the woods are EXPENSIVE.Funds are drying up so I hope we are getting some where.4
major hospital stays in little over a week 2 of which were transfusions.

I just got an update from over there and he is still in the oxygen tank and still hypertensive. He has settled
down a bit but he appears to be yellower so he is going to check his pcv shortly and i will know more later.I will try to give Dr.dobbs a call later and try to get some input...

Terry,

Please keep us posted, things often seem worse before they get better, but it sounds like Timmy is resting and comfortable.

Wendi, I'm glad you and Calyspo have joined us here since we 'met' on flickr, please take a minute to introduce yourselves in your own thread so people might offer a welcome and some support.
