| Hi everyone, Thanks Joanne and Patrice for the tick info by the way, I was asking because we were off to a vet appt this morning anyways, so I was debating asking for the SNAP 4 test while I was there. It turns out that they do have to send it out to that lab, so guessing it would be very expensive, they are going to call me back with a cost, but I think it will be more than the $40-50. Tiggs had his PCV checked twice, one was 43 and one was 47, so let's split the difference, and call me happy! We got his T4 rechecked since he's been on thyrotabs for about 3-4 weeks now, and still waiting on that, but his energy seems better and he's lost 3 lbs, so that tells me the Thyrotabs are helping. He also felt well enough to roll in something disgusting at the vacant neighbors house on our way to our front door, lol! One problem is that his skin still looks terrible. He has a small circular blister on his tummy, the vet said it looks like a staff infection. He ran a quick inhouse CBC and the white cells were normal, so we decided to treat this topically instead of adding an antibiotic. His ears are black, and his dandruff is out of control, despite the Dermcaps which initially were really helping. The vet feels that the immunosuppressives, even on the low doses that Tiggs is on, just kind of allow things to fester on the surface...ewww! I'm going to try to get him on a medicated bath, probably Ketochlor, since that is what my foster dog Honey gets weekly (she is hypothyroid as well), the vet said there was no contraindication for this with his meds/disease, so I'm going to try it. I think others here tried that as well if I remember correctly. Thanks everyone, I'll update you next week when I hear about the Thyroid panels. melissa and tiggs |

| Experiencing the same type circular blisters -on Choe's back and belly. He is also on a very low dose of pred. once every five dys. He has been an AIHA survivor for 2.5 years. His illness stemmed from Frontline topical flea control product, a very dangerous product that is made from fipronil a pesticide not properly tested by Merial, the pharmaceutical company that manufactures, (the fipronil infiltrated his system). I am treating his skin outbreak with medicated shampoo and topical vitamin e oil. I do not want to put him on antibiotics. His pcv also in high 40's. Im going to wait it out for a while as it does not seem to be interfering with any other aspect of his life. |
