I posted a couple weeks ago about having some handmade glass beads made with Riley's ashes inside... Well, the artist finished them and sent me some pictures of them today. They are SOOO beautiful I wanted to share them with you all. Maybe someone here will find comfort in having some of their own made. Jennifer, the woman who made these for me, was so kind and it really helped me through a tough time to be able to work with her in having these made. I plan to incorporate them into a bracelet I already have that has other special beads on it. I hope this link works. http://s223.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/southhavenjen/Riley/ You should also be able to see some pictures of Riley at the link too.

First I just want to say that Riley is (is, not was) gorgeous. Did he always have the white chin, or was that old age creeping up? That was what sold me on picking Toq. :) The beads are so neat. Are the specks in them just bubbles or are they actually his ashes? That is such a great idea. I wish we could post pictures on this site! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much...Riley was just a mutt but we always thought he was a handsome boy! Those pictures are when he was quite a bit younger, but he always did have the white chin. In recent years he had more white creeping up on his snout as most dogs do. The ashes are visible in the beads, I am told they look like sand. You can kind of see them in the pictures. The ashes being in the beads also causes the bubbles to form so you are seeing those as well. I wish we could post pictures too. I'd like to see everyone's dogs.

| That's so cool Jennifer! Awesome idea and a perfect way to keep the memories of Riley close. And yeah....he's sure a handsome boy. My heart still aches with you. I remember talking with someone awhile back on a different site that did something similar to this but I think it was a pendant she got. Does this person only do beads or do they do other objects? | She does jewelry too...not sure if she does other objects. But when I was searching on the internet for this type of thing I saw several things you could get, like a glass worry stone or a paperweight. On the new dog front, we are looking forward to Saturday. From stalking the rescue's website it is apparent that two of the six dogs we were doing to meet have been adopted. Good for them, and it will make it an easier choice for us! Vega and Red, our two top choices, are still available. |

Who was the person whom made the beads? The color is great and are a wonderful remembrance

Her name is Jennifer Price and her website is: http://www.juniperhollow.com/CremainsJewelry.html She is wonderful to work with; very patient & kind. I changed my mind about a dozen times on what I wanted and she was great through it all. I ordered three beads and she is sending me five and would not accept payment for the extra two. I highly recommend her. Thanks Cheryl, I will definitely post after our visit with the dogs tomorrow. We are so excited!

Absolutely beautiful. Riley and the beds. Where I am at there is a place that makes bowls out of the ashes. I need to check it out. It's an awesome idea. Take care.
