Hi everybody. Just wanted to let everybody know that Tessy was in today to have a followup urinalysis done as well as a CBC. The news was excellent for her....FINALLY! Her HCT climbed from 29.8 all the way to 34.5!!! I'm beyond happy for her!!! RBC up from 3.92 to 4.52. HGB up from 10.1 to 11.7 and platelets down from 616 to 461!!!!!! Everything finally seems to be going in the right direction for us. She's currently down to 20mg of pred from 50mg just 3-4 weeks ago. She hasn't taken aspirin for a couple weeks also. I'm not sure which of these could have played a role in her climbs cause she was also on antibiotics for a UTI that might have cleared something else up ...maybe?? I just don't know the exact reason for the climb but HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!!! Anyhow...the urinalysis showed that her UTI isn't fully cleared up yet.....just barely noticable. Her doctor wants to put her on another 2 week coarse of antibiotics for this. I have to choices and have to pick one by morning. One is a pill form called cephalexin and the other is an injectable form of antibiotic called Cefovecin. I wonder if this injectable form would be alright for a dog with AMHA??? Has anybody ever dealt with this kind of injectable antibiotic or know anything about it. Any advise on which one to choose would be great. I'ld like to pick the injectable on because it'll last for two weeks but I just want to make sure it isn't harmfull to her. Thanks, Johnny & Tessy

Johnny, that is great news about Tessie! Why dont you post a seperate ? on the antibiotic so others that may not read your post would see that. My concern on the injectable one would be is she getting bombarded with it all at once? Sounds like they are 2 different forms of antibiotic, what was she on before fo rher UTI? Laurie

Just to update....I went with the cephalexin for Tessy. The injectable antibiotic made me a little nervous so I opted out. She's been on this for just over a week now and her skin conditions are clearing up nicely! YAY Her UTI also seems to be clearing up but won't know for sure until her next urinalysis. The fingers are crossed. Thanks, Johnny & Tessy
