Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Tess Update - good news

Hi All,
I thought I would post a little good news. Tess (who was diagnosed with Evans syndrome in December 2004 - and had relapses in both 2006 and 2008) is doing great!
They told me that if she relapsed it would be harder and harder to bring her back but she has proved the opposite.
Her blood levels are right in the normal range and the blood clot she developed in September 2008 is gone!
At 7, she still acts like a puppy, goes with us everywhere and gets into puppy trouble! You would never know she was sick.
She is currently on 5mg Prednisone EOD (indefinately) and 6mg Aspirin twice per day.
I remember what it was like to look for stories of hope and thought I would share.....
All the best to everyone fighting the fight, it can be won - keep the faith.

Thank you for sharing - it is great to hear good news! I think dogs have the right idea - play and have fun as if you are still young!!! They do say age is all in your head...

Claudine,
That is great news. I am so happy for you and Tess.
I think all of us here have learned to listen to our hearts a lot more instead of taking everything the Vets tell us as gospel. I hope that maybe Tess has made them re-think their opinions?
