Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Tess - another relapse

It has been a long time since I have posted and for that I apologize.
It is August again and Tess has had another relapse.....
This time it is her ITP leading the way (platelets at 84) but she also has some lumps.
We did a needle aspirate on the lumps today and will have the results tomorrow. The doctor says it looks like it may be mast cell tumours but not to panic until we get the results.
Has anyone experienced this with their IMHA/ITP baby? I am freaking out!!! Like she needs skin cancer on top over everything else (going on 5 years with the Evans!!!)
Needed to vent but any advice/experience is most welcome.

I don't know anything about mast cell tumors, but wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and Tess. Don't freak out. I always freak out and get frantic and so far, each time I have received better than I expected news. The same will be true for you. I don't think mast cell tumors are always a "red flag" for cancer or anything. Oliver had some tumors removed earlier in the year and two were just regular tumors (whatever that means) and the other was a squamous cell carcinoma which was biopsied, obviously, and determined to have been completely eradicated. So it's ok. Hang in there. Keep us posted and take care of yourself and Tess.

Claudine, Sorry you have to deal with this horrible disease again. I hope and pray the lumps are nothing. At least you know about this disease this time around. Having a general knowledge helps so much.

Prayers and positive vibes for Tess from Tessy & I.

Hi All, thank you for the warm wishes. Tess is at home with us and back on the higher doses of Prednisone and Cyclosporine. Her platelets were somewhere around 10 but no signs of bleeding and her PCV was still at 49.
The lumps have shown one to be just fatty tissue, the other had abnormal cells, inflamation and lots of white cells. They feel that a biopsy should be done but with her platelets so low this is not a good idea for now. However, since the increase in prednisone the size of the lump has diminshed (not sure if this is a good sign or a bad sign).
She goes back in on Wednesday for more blood work to make sure things are headed into the right direction.
We now believe her trigger for the relapses has been identified. 3 relapses, all in the month of August = seasonal allergy, perhaps to ragweed which kick starts her immune system.

PCV is awesome. The fatty cells are typical, thats the ones that Oliver had and still has a couple of small ones. I will keep you and your pup in my prayers. It sounds like things are going on the up-swing. Keep your thoughts positive.
