Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Tapeworm woes

I have tried three weeks of homeopathic remedies to try to rid my two dogs of a tapeworm infestation to no avail. I am at a loss as to how the infection started except to say I was having trouble with little field mice in myy house and it is possible one/both of the dogs ate those little gross mouse droppings. After two extermnatir viits I am hoping they are GONE. It has gotten even grosser with the tapeworm segments noticible in one of my doxie's stools. Although I have not seen the segs in Choe's stools, I am feeling that because they are in close proximity to one another 24/7, he has it too Bringing their stool samples in tomorrow for analysis although from what I have been researching, the eggs/larvae do not necessarily show in each sample.
So now, what to do....Dr. Dodds wrote to tell me NOT to use the allopathic treatment of choice, Drontal. She then wrote mw back after hearing my tale of woe and said basically 'you may not have any other alterntive' (other than to use the allopathic treatment). I have been googling and reading of adverse reactions to this treatment.
Other boards say the wormer, Panacur is gentler but it does not eradicate all types of tapeworms....yes folks there are multiple 'types...can you believe? If I administer to Choe and he has a relapse I will have a total meltdown. My other doxie is healthy/sturdy and I am not quite as resistant in trying the regular treatment as she is the one I am seeing the disgusting little segments. These blasted parasites can cause a lot of damage eventually if not eradicated. The disturbing thing is....many times there are minimal symptoms and if you are really not looking closely at dog poop you could miss the litle crawly things that look lie a grain of rice..plus your pet can be doing its daily routine and have a gut full of a worm. Oh geez, no wonder I lost my appetite.
Anyone have any experience with these 'worming' treatments. What are your thoughts? thanks. Jan

I have no experience with treating a dog with Panacur, but have treated horses with it. I have been looking for alternatives to worming treatments after Matilda was diagnosed this last March and came across a lot of information about FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous Earth. (Wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/defaq.html offers a lot of info) I am still researching it and trying to find someone that might be using it for dogs. I have found one place - a horse rescue here in Texas - that uses it as a daily wormer for all their horses. They said it is easier on their system, which is important as most of the horses they take in are in extremely poor health to begin with. They monitor the effectiveness of the doses they use by taking in fecal samples 1 x a month to their vet until they know the dosage is correct.

I am thinking of trying this on my dogs, but will be talking to my vet about it first. I would love to know if anyone on here as info on it.

I have had few responses so I take it that most folks have not wormed their AIHA pet. I have started the regular 'panacur' treatment for Choe and I pray he does not suffer any ill effects. Panacur is an anthelmetic. All should be interested as it is not uncommon, especially in the spring/summer for your pet to pick up tapeworm, roundwom, pinworm, etc. Although I much prefer homeopathic treatment, in this case, it was not effective.
