Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sunny is worse
| Sunny needs your prayers. He is wasting away. I lowered the pred to 40 mg per day starting yesterday morning. He seemed a bit better last night, but this afternoon he is awful. He cannot get up and walks like he is drunk. He is obviously suffering. I'm considering letting him go to the bridge..... I'm waiting for a call from the vet. |

| i put this in your other thread this morning but wanted to repost it here in the case that you didnt see it... leslie, i just wanted to mention that my dog went through the same exact thing that you are experiencing now... after a month or 2 on very aggressive doses of meds it literally wasted her body down from 40 lbs to 22 lbs, she couldnt stand for 2 weeks, and it absolutely almost killed her. i was adament about this belief instead of believing that it was just the 'disease' taking its toll... after a weekend of 72 hour care in a hospital we pulled the meds all the way back...reducing them like 80% overall and 12 months later she is still around and holding strong. she is also on an anabolic steroid that i feel needs mentioning, but that is my 2 cents. i hope sunny begins to feel better |

| Josh, Thank you for posting your comment. I actually found your website yesterday and I was amazed by the courage that you and Sway have had while fighting this disease. I just don't know how you got through seeing your Sway waste away like that. I talked to the vet today and she agreed with my decision to lower the prednisone. How long did it take for Sway to start feeling better? What did they do for him in the hospital? Leslie and Sunny |
