I asked my vet about giving Sunny aspirin and she agreed that it would be helpful in preventing a clot. However, she says that his dose is one sixth of a baby aspirin and that she did not know how to get that amount. Any suggestions? Are you cutting up a pill or is there another form with a smaller dosage? Thank you.

Leslie, My dog Tipsi also needed to be put on aspirin after her AIHA diagnosis for prevention of blood clots. She is a minature dachshund weighing 14 pounds. So she needed a very small dose as well. The only way we were able to get the aspirin was to have it compounded at a pharmacy from a veterinary teaching hospital. You will probably need to have Sunny's aspirin formulated by a trained veterinary pharmacist. Hopefully you will be able to find one in your area. You might also check with a regular pharmacy to see if they could compound it for you. Regards, Layla & Tipsi

Hi Leslie, When Cali was on aspirin we initially had it compounded from the Emergency vet clinic, but it was expensive. 60 5mg pills cost $100! When she needed a refill my vet went through VETCENTRIC an online website that will ship right to your house. Cali was taking 10mg a day & a month supply was $40 with shipping. She passed away while a refill was in transit. If anyone is in need of 30 10 mg asprin let me know. I'd like to see them go to someone who can use them just email me & I'd be hapy to ship them. Good Luck with Sunny, Dee
