Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Starting a new thread for Susan and Gracie Mae

How do I get involved in your site? I have read posts and see Dr. Dodds noted. She has helped me with my Corgi who has epilepsy via the Guardian Angels website. My other Corgi was just diagnosed with AIHA (although negative Coombs) and I have already consulted with Dr. Dodds. I will send blood to her for thyroid test. Your posts are very helpful as (while I have become an expert at epilepsy) I am a novice with this disease with 5 days into it. I have a huge board now in my utility room with meds for both dogs. I need help determining if I should add aspirin. I guess I can wait until Monday when I next see vet but I'm worried and am wondering if most of you have added it. Thanks for any help you can give me and Gracie. Siged: Sue and Little Gracie Mae

Susan,
I am so very sorry to hear that your most beloved Gracie Mae had recently been diagnosed with AIHA. While AIHA is very difficult disease dogs CAN and DO survive it and go on to live happy, healthy lives.

If you have not read my Web site on Canine AIHA/IMHA as yet, you might want to do so when you can. The URL is:

http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/

Be sure to follow the links on the bottom of the first page to many other sites on AIHA/IMHA that will be very helpful to you and do read the SUCCESS STOIRES pages. They will show you what has worked for other dogs in terms of treatment options as well as give you a lot of HOPE.

Be assured both you and your dear Gracie Mae are in my thoughts and prayers during these most very difficult days.

Susan, good to hear you have Dr. Dodds on board! She's so great to work with!
LOL @ the large board to write meds on....that's what I needed! Have you asked Dr. Dodds about low dose aspirin yet?

Keep us posted.
