Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sorry from Corrie and Joey

Sorry we Haven't answered your threads. It's been a long month! Joey's latest PCV is 45 and his retylocytes (wrong spelling - baby blood cells) are now back down to 130. Although high - a normal dogs are around 70 this is normal for him.He is now on a Hills reducing diet and has lost 1.5kgs in weight over 41/2 weeks which has brought him down to 29.2kgs. Still 4.2kgs over weight but is an improvement. He is swimming 10 minutes per week (I'm told this is 10 miles) and we've cut his exercise down to 100 minutes per day -this has stopped him being stiff on his front right leg.Unfortunately he has early onset arthritis due to the steroids he had to fight the anaemia. However he is still fighting on!
Love to All,
Corrie and Joey xx

Corrie,
Congratulations to you and Joey. It sounds like everything is working out well for you. Continued prayers that improvements keep coming Joey's way and that you only hear good reports from this day on.

How do I get involved in your site? I have read posts and see Dr. Dodds noted. She has helped me with my Corgi who has epilepsy via the Guardian Angels website. My other Corgi was just diagnosed with AIHA (although negative Coombs) and I have already consulted with Dr. Dodds. I will send blood to her for thyroid test. Your posts are very helpful as (while I have become an expert at epilepsy) I am a novice with this disease with 5 days into it. I have a huge board now in my utility room with meds for both dogs. I need help determining if I should add aspirin. I guess I can wait until Monday when I next see vet but I'm worried and am wondering if most of you have added it. Thanks for any help you can give me and Gracie. Siged: Sue and Little Gracie Mae
