Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sofie the German Shep Pup

Just a quick update on my Sofie. She is three weeks off of all meds and everything is going great.Anyway, my big news is Sofie will be attending her first dog shows this weekend. Not expecting any wins from her, the German Shepherd ring is very tough, BUT, Sofie is already a winner. She was diagnosed at 5 1/2 months old on Christmas Eve day, and at just over 4 months later she is on her way to the dog shows. Except for a shaved spot on both front legs, you would not ever think she had been deathly ill.
So, let Sofie be a bit of inspiration for anyone fighting this disease, there can be good endings and your dog can get better. Stay strong for yourself, be strong for you dog and say lots of prayers. I am lucky to have a vet who fought so hard for my girl, and listened to me and my worries and helped me through the rough spots. My husband, daughter and my dog friends were there for me during the struggle, and boy there sure were days were I needed some strength.
Will let everyone know how the weekend goes, if nothing else, my girl is a strong fighter and that is worth all the blue ribbons they could give me.

Congratulations & Good Luck with the dog show. That's great that Sofie was only on medication for 4 months. They really need a prescription plan for dogs! Everything is so expensive. My stimulus check from the Government will go to pay a portion of my Vet bills. I hope my dog Cali is as lucky as yours. We are only 2 weeks into this so it is all still scarey & frustrating.
