Well, it has been 6 months and two weeks since Sofie was diagnosed on Christmas Eve day. I know I have been extremely lucky with Sofie, and my heart goes out to everyone who is fighting this disease daily. Sofie has been all medication free for over 3 months now, and all is great. Her bloodwork is normal, and will not have another for 6 months. She has had absolutely no effects from the disease or treatment and when you look at her, you would never know how close to dying she came. I have been showing her at dog shows and she has been doing well, usually winning her classes. Sofie was so young when diagnosed,5 1/2 months, I wonder if being so young and full of life helped her survive. Her initial PCV was 14% and it never went lower. I know her vet worked day and night to help her pull through. Dogs can and do win against this horrible disease, and my thoughts are with everyone dealing with this. I come to this site daily to get updates and to see how everyone is doing.I feel the losses when they occur and the joy when a dog survives a setback.

That is very good news. Congrats to Sofie & you. It is wonderful that she is still able to particpate in showing. I don't show my dog (she's a rescue and spayed), but am involved in a local breed club and attend various dog shows and among other things, anyone who will listen gets a few words (at least!) on AIHA/ITP.

thanks for posting, that is great news! Wylie went off prednizone over a week ago and gets tested again on Friday so I am hoping for for good news on that front. She was never below 34, so I am glad you are posting your good news with Sofie and letting people know what her original pcv was so it can give others hope who have been are in teh same sitution
