Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - SO frustrated!!!!

Jack's bone marrow biopsy was done last monday (8/17/09) and still the specialist has no results from the specialist analyizing it in Indiana. I want to get him on some other meds soon so we can slowly start to wean him off the prednisone. I am literally carrying a 126 lb dog up and down 13 steps every two hours because he is so weak.

I can see how it would be frustrating. If it were me I'ld be on the phone trying to find some answers. Seems like an awefully long time to wait for results.

Hopefully you'll be able to figure things out and Jack can get some strength back.

Hope you get the answers you need. I'll keep Jack in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Robin
I thought you might want to take a look at the K9 Caddie or something similar it may help you Jack get up the steps. I also heard you can try a towel too.
Hope he is feeling better soon.

I am so sorry Robin. Is there anyone who can help you carry him up and down? Poor puppy. I hope he gets better and you get the answers your waiting for. Shouldn't take this long. Hang in there.

Robin,
Sorry it is taking so long to get the test results but hopefully they will provide the "clue" to what is going on. Try to stay positive. Last year or so we had a person who had a dog about the size of yours with the same challenges of living upstairs. The worst thing is they had to do it in snow storms as well.

I agree with Johnny - I too would be telephoning - when phoebe has both her bone marrow biopsies we had the test results back that afternoon - she was in hospital, so slightly different, but nevertheless it seems does seem an awfully long time!!

our best wishes and prayers are with you both

Kindest regards

Hi Barb

I don't know if this helps but Phoebe gets a her groomer to come to the house - I bathe her and Michelle comes and does clipping, nails, topknot, ears etc. I can't say Phoebe likes the process but she is much calmer in her own home and when she is done she acts like a puppy - even when she has been quite poorly - it seemed to give her a boost to be treated normally.

As already stated I think that you have to monitor how Tootsie is doing at present and then decide what is the best course of action.

Hope this helps - I'm sure there must be some mobile groomers in your areas.

Kind regards
