Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Shaunna Update

Hi All

It's been a long time since I have posted - never seem to have 2 minutes these days to catch up, though I've followed all the ups and downs on the site. I think the last time I posted about Shaunna she was on the up during the latter part of August. Since then, the overall news has been good, though the road has been somewhat bumpy due to a couple of pretty horrid infections etc, which felt like setbacks.

I'm please to report that last week we had her pcv checked and it returned at 47 - 10 days prior to that it was 50 - and 10 days prior to that it was 48 - so we seem have her in remission - fingers crossed of course. We're now in the process of reducing her drugs. She is now off the atopica and we've also reduced the pred to 5mgs x 1 daily. Wonderfully, her personality has returned and she is the delightfully naughty and willful girl she used to be.

Best,
Claire

You go Shaunna. Happy to hear the personality is coming back. Tessy's starting to get hers back and it just tickles me with joy.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes as I know we've all been battling this horrid condition, which can be emotionally draining.

I just hope it's all plain sailing from here with the drug reductions.

Best,
Claire
