My 3 year old Australian Shepherd was diagnosed with AIHA on MOnday. Her PCV was at 20, they started her on Prednisone, but it kept dropping. By Wed., it was down to 11. We took her for a blood transfusion, and she started doing a little better. It went up to 29, and then stabilized at 21 for a day or two. NOw it keeps dropping again. It is down to 15 today. They are doing another transfusion now. Does anyone have any advice on anything else we can do? My vet is concerned that she won't make it. I don't think I can survive without my little girl. Please give any advice you think might help. Please pray for my baby. God bless you all. Teresa

I'm so sorry to hear your beloved has come down with this dreadful disease. My little one was diagnosed on 1/24 and since that time has received three transfusions. Just prior to her last one (2/24) my vet and I were in contact with Dr. Jean Dodds at Hemopet and she changed some of Daisy's dosages and added other meds and since that time she seems to be doing much better. Her lowest pcv was 9 and her highest was 34. Right now she has been at 22 for a week. For more information on Dr. Dodds please go to www.itsfortheanimals.com/DODDS-RESUME.htm and www.hemopet.org For additional information on IMHA/AIHA go to www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/ Please keep us posted on your baby's condition. She will be in our thoughts and prayers. Evelyn and Daisy

Teresa, she may need to have more drugs along with the Prednisone. Lindy was on Prednisone and Cyclosporine in the beginning and then Azathioprine was added after she crashed five months later. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Nancy
