Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sam update
| Sam's last hematocrit was at 49.5!!! We are so happy! He is coming off the last of the Prednisone. He will be done with it in one week! All is looking great for Mr. Sam! His Vet believes that it was the dental cleaning and vaccine for gingivitis that set his AIHA in motion. No more vaccines for Sam! I sure have appreciated all the support from this forum and the great folks who have battled and are battling for their beloved pets. We are almost on the other side of this dreadful disease! | Congratulations. I know how you feel. Sofie, my GSD puppy is on her last week also, getting 10mg every other day for this last week, then she will be off meds totally. Her last 5 PCV's have been sitting at 51%.. After next week, she waits a week , then one more blood test to make sure everything is normal.. Its only been since Christmas Eve for us, but seems like forever. Go Sam I am.............. |

| Becky, Fantastic news for you and Sam! It is always wonderful to hear when the meds are almost done. I dream about that day for Holly and us. We have been at this 1 year with her, and still trying to wean off the prednisone. Linda |
