Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sam update

Hi all. I have been away awhile, recuping from shoulder surgery. Took Sam in for his usual blood work. He is doing GREAT!! We have reduced his Pred down to 20mg/day now! After this next blood work tomorrow, we may be able to drop it down even further! AND...the best news yet...I took him to the oncologist for his check up on his adrenal tumor, and the ultrasound showed NO ABNORMALITIES! Don't know how or what made the tumor go away, but he is now Cancer free! Think he knew it all along! We are so thrilled! We are switching him over to Potassium Bromide for his epilepsy, and weaning him off the Phenobarbital, as it was beginning to affect his liver. I lost my job on Monday, but looking at it as an opportunity to spend time with my best bud, Sam. Saw your posts Deb and Josh. Take care and be well everyone.

Becky, that is fantastic news for you. It sounds like Sam is well on the road to recovery. And I like your attitude - that losing your job will give you more time to spend with Sam. Thanks for your good wishes.

Please keep us all posted about Sam.

Becky,
Glad to see you have your priorities right. Just kidding I am sorry to hear of your job loss and hope that you get that taken care of when your ready. That is such great news about Sam. I guess his doggie Angel felt he had been through enough and took away the Cancer. Sounds like a round of Frosty Paws is in order.
