Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Sam and Beck

I just came home from a 5 day holiday. My Mom's 80th birthday. I couldn't wait to see my Sam dog! I came home to a Sam dog who missed his Mama. He rode home from the airport on my lap, even though he it a bit too large to be a lap dog. And I didn't mind. Once home,he had to stand inside of my suitcase and smell all my clothes. Where had I been? He seems to panting less, but is dry hacking, almost like a fur ball is in his throat. He goes back this week for another exam and blood work. I am hoping we can start backing him off the Prednisone. He does have yucky eye buggers in the corners of his eyes. Anyone else see eye buggers? One is an open sore. I put some meds on it. But OH, HOW I MISSED My BOY!

Deb and Duck...hand in there baby. I think of you so often. We need to exchange dog photos.

Thanks all. Sam and I are headed off to bed.

Hi Becky. Thanks for your kind thoughts about Duck and I. I have noticed that Duck has a dry hack sometimes after eating. This doesn't happen very often though. I have just put it down to his eating (inhaling) technique and figure that sometimes those whole kibbles get stuck in his throat!

In the summer months, Duck developed mucky eyes. Someone else on this site mentioned the same thing. He felt it was linked his dog's prednisone reductions. At one point though the goo in one of Duck's eyes changed from white to green. That turned out to be conjunctivitis which was easily treated with ointment from the vet.

Good luck to you and Sam this week. Hope the blood work is great and that you can soon start to reduce Sam's prednisone. Please keep us posted and take care.
