Ruger is acting especially lethargic this evening. Won't eat hardly anything. Took a few nites of chicken but won't eat any dogfood, baby food nothing. He is acting very nauseous. Did anyone else experience this with the ulcers or the ulcer meds or do you think there is more going on? Why is it always on a weekend night?

So sorry to hear Jaime. It could be related to the ulcers or the Cyclosporine perhaps? It might be worthwhile getting Ruger to the vet if you are really worried.

Jaime, I am so sorry to hear about Ruger feeling poorly. I'm not sure about his lethargy. Lets hope everything is alright, I will be praying for your big guy and for you as well. As for as the weekend nights thing I whole-heartedly agree. Is your vet open on Saturdays? Keep us posted...Kelly

Hi Jaime Sorry to hear Ruger is feeling poorly - maybe he has a sore tummy - pancreatitis - does he have ulcers? I know, its always on a weekend - that was my position too with Riley, emergency clinic are a blessing, and hugely expensive. The trouble is with this illness, we watch everything like a hawk and any move they make, but it could be he is just feeling off. The treatment for pancreatitis is withholding of food for a day - perhaps a drip if he is dehydrated - and very small low fat meals often after that. I could be wrong, but its a thought. Is the vet not open Saturdays or Sundays - there might be one that opens for a short time. Please let us know how you go with Ruger - he keeps on fighting, and so do you. Best wishes. Silka

Hi Jamie How is Rugers doing now? It sounds like he may need to be seen by a vet as he may have something else going on with his stomach. Sending a big hug and most of all our prayers!!! Please keep us updated. Cheryl & Ginger

I know you probably won't want to hear this but you should take Ruger to a vet if you think it is serious. It could be ulcer related or it could be the PCV dropping again. The only way to know for certain is to get him in as soon as possible. I always say better safe than sorry right. I can't even begin to count the times I took Tessy in at night or on weekends. Hopeing and praying for the bets for Ruger. Johnny & Tessy

He is still extra weak but more alert htis morning. He is eating a little which has me feeling better. His vet is 2 hours form us and emergency services only weekends but I have been in constant contact with his dr. We decided to see how he acted today as if it is his PCV dropping she thinks it is fromt he ulcers and not the disease. Hard to say but that is what I feel as well. He i drinking very well for me so that is encouraging. Thanks for all the support and prayers. I didn't sleep all night. So much anxiety and just so worried.

Good to hear he ate something. Keep a really good eye on him. I know exactly what you mean about the sleepless nights! I used to lay awake and just watch Tessy when she was first sick. How's Rugers stool looking? Dark or sticky or tarry? I'll be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers. Johnny & Tessy

I wonder if he would like pumpkin puree(plain not the pie kind, mixed with a little cottage cheese and small bits of chicken. Pumpkin is good for the tummy.

My heart goes out to you! I KNOW what your saying about the "week ends" EVERY time Baby was ever sick was a WEEK END! She had three week end costly trips! Just don't even question it, I would take Rugers to the vet you know your baby, last Sunday I was vacuuming I had not taken a shower yet, and I just kept an eye on her I had no idea how bad it was about to get, and I do feel I have some regrets about waiting I went to check on her & her tongue had swelled up 3x’s it’s normal size, I grabbed the phone called the vet and my mother, I dropped everything ripped my clothes off changed, threw my hair up & and took her to my local vet, the next thing I knew I was in Orchard Park that is an hour away from me.I regret that I didn’t take her sooner, I felt I allowed that to happen to her. Then the awful what if’s don’t live with them they’ll eat you up inside! Just think about it Jaime.I'm just saying I wish I didn't take the "I'll just watch her" approach.
