My wylie is 14 years old with liver problems I give her Milk Thistle. If you can get the Denemirin, it is very good for the liver. Also a liver cleansing diet Posted 09 June 2011 at 13:49:15 UK time Maggie, London, m.georgiou45@blueyonder.co.uk Hello new to this site so bear with me please. Found you as I was searching for Destolit tablets (to see if I could get them cheaper than my vets (£62.00 for 60 tablets)>Someone said Amazon but when I tried them they had no such product. Also was interested in the comments about denmarin. My dog is 13ys.and, as you can guess, has liver problems. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Maggie, Your dog is building up toxic bile acids in his system. This drug, Destolit, (ursodiol) helps address this situation. Here is an excellent description of how this works. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=549&S=1&SourceID=52 Denamarin would help to a certain extent but it depends on the results of the test for the level of bile acids. If there is a severe problem, the Destolit will be the best medication to dispense. However, if there is any indication of gallstones, this drug would not be beneficial so be sure your vet has explored this diagnosis before giving this drug. This company, KVsupply.com, will ship international and has 100 ursodial caps for $58., but you will have to pay those extra shipping charges and also check with customs about this drug entering the country. http://tinyurl.com/3zn2neb my best patrice

Patrice, thank you so much for the info that Destlit is Ursoidal. Wylie is on it and I pay $$ $75 for 30 pills. Maggie, Now that i know it 's bile sludge. YOur dog should also be on a good probiotic and digestive enzymes. Also these ingredients need to be avoided in a bile sludget diet: Poultry, eggs, and any kind of cheese(Like no-fat cottage cheese) and eggs. I wonder If I caused Wylies bile sludge because I was trying to be a good mom and was feeding her the above items that area that are good for a liver diet but not a bile sludge diet. Laurie
