Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Prilosec vs. Pepcid

I saw in another thread that Prilosec is better than Pepcid as a stomach protectant. I would like more info on this.

Riley has been having some trouble with constipation and I notice that is a side affect of Pepcid. I had researched Prilosec but noticed side affects of that med is bone marrow suppression, which is obviously not what we want.

I would love to know more!

hi jennifer.
when my amy suffered a burst ulcer we put her on antepcin 30ml x 3 times daily and it cured it quickly.you just have to be careful to not give any other drug less than 2 hours either side of it as it lines the stomach and can stop absorbsion.we also give omoprazole antacid.
hope this helps.
best wishes.john&amy.

Bone Marrow suppression is rare with prilosec. I think it actually is due to B12 absorption issues.
