Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Patrice, I have a ? Doxy and ALT
| Patrice, thanks for the info on the doxy, if doxy causes the alt to rise then why prescribe it for an unknown possible infection that could already be causing the ALT to rise? I am sooo confused. Wylie has now been off pred for 2 months, her ALT has slowly been coming down from a high of 1000, in March it was down to 553, April, 353, and now back up to 550. Laurie |

| Laura, I think confusion is part of this awful disease. While our Holly is not on any doxie, and only 1mg of prednisone on Monday & Friday currently, in February her ALK was 336 which was down from a high number over the months also, then we had stopped the aziathioprine and retested in 2 months and all of a sudden her ALK went back up to 465. Dr Dodds just said because of prolonged use of the steriods. At that time though we were on 2mg of prednisone Monday& Friday, so hopefully next month when we retest again, her ALK will have come down because of lowering the prednisone. Good luck with Wylie!
