Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Our Sammy is gone

Hello all, I am writing this because like a lot of you we lost our Lady to AIHA, Then we lost our Tasha to
a combination of old age and disease. Now our home is
empty because our Sammy (the cat) who was dx with renal
failure and went blind, had to finally be put down
because she would not eat and could not even walk to
her litter box. Forgive me, I know this site is for
dogs but a few of you know me through Rainbow Bridge and In Honor Of sites. I just wanted to share with those with recent losses that we too know how hard it
is to come home to an empty house. Just today after
shopping I said to my hubby, " I still have trouble
coming home to an empty house." All our lives together
we have always had a fur companion. Now after 54 years together it is just us. I have been putting out
cat food in a container hoping that the squirrels would come and eat it. Something has, and last night we saw what it was, a big black and brown and white cat. I do not know if it is a stray but will put a note up at the corner store to see if someone has lost
him/her. I have seen no ads in the paper.
I am truly sorry for those who have recently lost their fur kids. I always add those to the Rainbow Bridge page. Peace and remember the good times together. Dolores

Hi Dolores,
I know how it is to come home to an empty nest. We lost my dog Sunny to IMHA two days after my baby (third daughter) went off to college. I hated coming home so I just stayed at work longer and longer. My husband eventually convinced me to adopt a dog. That decision has turned my life around! There is joy in my home again! I highly recommend finding a new furkid. It doesn't mean that you don't still love and miss your dear departed pets... but it does make home a place that you want to be again. Good luck to you Dolores.

Dolores,
I think any loss of a fur-baby is acceptable on this site even if it didn't bark. I am sorry that you find yourself childless right now but I think you may have new boarders eventually. We always say o.k. that's it no more... Well we are back to 4 dogs and I am feeding an abandoned one that I can't get close to yet.
I am sure Sammy has already met up with Lady and Tasha
and they are probably talking about what a good life you gave them here on earth.
Take care

Hi Dolores,

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Sammy, having an empty house is .... well i cant really answer that, but i do know its the most awful, painfull thing ever to experience, its an individual feeling but im sure you are feeling the same as we are, putting it into words is very difficult.

We joined here last saturday for help and advise and friendship, unfortunatly it was too late for our baby, Daisy, she died in the early hours of last sunday morning,we have had the support ever since and we hope we can give that support back to others that are going throuh and will go through what we have, even a cat, called Sammy is the same to me, its just as thought of as a dog, please dont apologise for posting on here, we are all human and alot of us have gone through the process of loosing a loved pet, so our thoughts are with you, you dont have to be alone on this one.

I have never ever been on a website where you will receive as much support, advise and love as this one, we have met many friends through here.

Our thoughts are with you Dolores.

God Bless

I'm so sorry Delores, just the thought of an empty nest makes me tear up. I hope that in the future you will consider rescuing an animal in need (maybe the little kitty you are already helping?) as it sounds as though you have much love to share. We are thinking of you.

Dolores, I am so sorry to hear about Sammy. No matter what the pet or disease, we are here to love and support those in need as they have done for us.
Please know that we will be praying for you to find peace.
Yes, I see there will be more furkids in your life by your overflowing love. I suffered the same "empty house syndrome" for 3 months and now we are adopting two rescue dogs. I still cry bittersweet tears for my Brandy, but the hope these new loves have brought into my life is awesome. I know I am blessed and God opens doors just when you think there will never be a door again.

Hang in there, heal and when you are ready, love another,........... Lady, Sammy and Tasha will be proud of you.
