Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge on lawn fertilizers and if there are safe ones out there for the lawn. I was also wondering if normal fertilizer would be OK if the dog does not go on the lawn for a couple of weeks. My dogs only use the front lawn when they are going to the car. I'ld have no problem carrying them to the car if needed. They have their own separate enclosed area in the back of the house which would not get any fertilizers of any kind. I guess I'm just wondering what my options are and if anybody has tried anything organic or green. Hope everybody is doing good today. Johnny & Tessy

Johnny, I get everything for our lawn, and have for many years, from www.gardensalive.com. Every product is safe to use for dogs. Of course, this is not inexpensive, but we are very satisfied with their products and you can save some money joining their garden club and watching emails for special bogo. The shipping for big bags is the killer, but the bogo helps with that. In the spring we use their WOW without weeds. It's a corn gluten based weed inhibitor. It works pretty well (this will also not allow new grass seeds to grow so timing is important). We also use their beneficial nematodes in the spring to prevent grubs, and reduce the numbers of possible ticks and fleas. They have a new beneficial nematode just for fleas that we have not tried. I like the fertilizer for the vegetables and the one for the lawn as well. You may find some of these kinds of products locally, we have not found anything like this where we are. I gave a catalog to our tree service guy and he could not stop thanking me, said his customers were very happy that he was using these products. my best patrice

We also use www.dirtworks.net They have lots of green, nontoxic products. I buy my diatomaceous earth there too.

This is our personal choice, but we no longer use any kind of fertilizer or weed killer in our yard. Right now we are giving Keiko bottled water as there is high turbity in the tap water, because of the run off, and we try not to put Keiko at any undue risk. She had filtered tap water up to now. She is healthy at 2 years post diagnosis :) Even so, I am still secong guessing so many things. I don't think I will ever completely releax, and she was one of the lucky ones. She came back slow and steady and has been good.. Jess and Keiko

PS, I know that NONE of us would ever put our dogs at risk, and I did not mean to imply any differently. On re reading my post I thought it read wrong and could be misinterpeted, so sorry.. Jess
