Hi everyone! I don't post much anymore but I do read often to check in on everyone. First a quick Slinky update...she's doing great! Still keeping her PCV nice and high (around 52 usually). We've had a few sebaceous cysts that had to be aspirated to make sure they weren't more mast cell tumors but things went well. Our 'old' vet, the one who diagnosed Slinky and took fast action that I'm convince contributed to her successful recovery, has moved back to town, and I feel so much better knowing she's back if we have to face this monster again. In non-IMHA news, we just had our 2nd non-dog baby over the Thanksgiving holiday. Slinky was diagnosed during my 1st pregnancy and has handled both arrivals so well! She is my little shadow and keeps me company during all of the night feedings. Related to the above, my other dog handles stress poorly and his chiropractor recommended a flower essence blend called 'Field of Flowers' from Energetix. I have not been able to find a store near me that carries it, nor an online source. Anyone else tried this? Any online stores?

Stephanie - Nice to hear from you and congratulations on the new baby! I know Dr. Hansen works closely with Dr. Siwek at Kindred Spirits - she recently moved her practice to Evanston if you google her - sorry, I don't have the new number. When we saw her a couple years ago, she was a big proponent of flower essences so she may be able to direct you to the product you are looking for if you can't find an on-line lead. Take care - I hope Slinky continues to do well and Mendel adjusts to the growing family! BTW - did your vet return to Family Pet? Bonnie

Stephanie, Try Bach's Rescue Remedy. I use this for Chance in the car. It's been used by thousands of dog owners over the years and is well known. I'll bet you might even find this at one of your larger grocery stores but always at your local health food store or online. I am not much on these kinds of things, but I bought the spray bottle since it didn't cost too much, just to try it. I've had way too many dog owners recommend it to me not to give it a go. Dogs don't know that you are experimenting on them so I knew I could be sure if the results were positive! It worked every time I tried it. I sprayed twice into his mouth. Now there has been some discussion whether the alcohol content is what is really effecting these behavior changes! It's a rather high content. But the amount of spray that is used is so small that the actual alcohol content has to be negligible? I suspect that most flower essences are delivered with some alcohol content, how much that is may vary from brand to brand. my best patrice

Ha, now I see they are marketing an alcohol free version for pets. There you go! Here is just one place on line, among MANY (as in shop around!), where you could purchase this: http://www.directlyfromnature.com/Animal.htm

Stephanie, I was wondering if anybody would mention Bach flower rescue remedy and there we go! I used that product with great success on my old rescue dog that was suffering from anxiety. Now my daughter used it when she has exam stress. Best of luck, Brigitte & Kahlu

Thanks everyone! I've used Rescue Remedy before, this Energetix blend was one that he thought would really hit the right note so to speak :) He gave me 2 other Bach essences to try too. I can get the Bach products at the grocery store, but the Energetix is eluding me. Yes, Bonnie, we see Dr. Hansen, so I'll give this woman in Evanston a look up, she might have a source closer than where Dr. Hansen is located. And yes, our vet returned to Family Pet! She had moved to Albequerque but came back. We see Dr. Smith as our primary vet there.
