Just to let you all know the wonderful wonderful news,Nollaig's pcv has increased for the first time in seven long and trying months and I thank you God!!! For those of you who don't know or remember, Nollaig is a 3 year old beagle who has pure red cell aplasia(non regenerative anaemia in the bone marrow) and despite a large number of expensive and damaging drugs being tried(prednisolone, atopica, azathioprine, leflunomide, danazol etc) she never responded whatsoever, her pcv just continually dropped about 4% a week average. Her pcv is now 19%,4 weeks ago it was 15% but I know it went down the two weeks after that to possibly as low as 8%(as her heart got faster and she got a lot more tired)so although a bit to go to return to normal this is a massive turnaround for Nollaig-yippeeeeeeeeee!What a wonderful determined little fighter she is. I ask that you continue to hope and pray that her pcv continues to rise. Nollaig and I owe a great thanks to Karen and the other miracle beagle Darcy, as she has been instrumental in Nollaig's turnaround as she advised me to get Nollaig onto doxycycline(which she's now been on 6 weeks) as that is what worked for Darcy again after 7/8 months of non regenerative anaemia(Pam and Jewel advised Karen about doxy so I thank her from bottom of my heart also) and she also told me about biopreparation which Nollaig has been on 4 weeks now and I would strongly advise that you try this. The vets were not for trying any of these drugs/holistic treatments if I hadn't asked and found out about them myself and they didn't think they would make a difference so it just goes to prove,we know our dogs better than anyone and we through our own research can find the solution to the cure for this disease.I hope that the vets who have been treating Nollaig would now try these treatments in the future for all other dogs who don't respond to the 'normal' drugs that they try. I thank Josh and Sway for telling me about nandrolone, which Nollaig is also on now. Mostly, I thank God for leading me to these wonderful people and to all of you out there who have sent your continued good wishes, support and prayers,in particular Mardi, who despite her own sad loss of Oliver continued to pray and support Nollaig - you have all kept me going. To those of you out there at the start of this disease never give up hope,as I said, a lot of vets would have given up on Nollaig and certainly would not have given her the 7 months to recover nor have tried the drugs that I asked them to, so thank you to Rory for giving her the chance. Keep praying that her pcv will continue to rise. Going to celebrate this weekend. Kathleen and Nollaig the Miracle Beagle!

Kathleen, That is wonderful that you will have your little girl home. Thankfully Joanne has given us a place to share our experiences so that we can compare notes so to speak. I just wish all Vets were more open to alternative ideas especially when everything they have been taught isn't working. You and Nollaig are so lucky to have each other. Keeping you both in thoughts and prayers. Penny

Hi Kathleen, what fantastic news. You certainly deserve this and so does Nollaig. I thinks vets certainly need to be more open to new ideas although your Rory sounded excellent. I have certainly learnt from you and others too. That Biopreparaton sounds a fabulous product. Enjoy. Julie.

Hi Kathleen This is absolutely fantastic news and you must be thrilled to bits with Nollaig's progress. This has been such a horrendous journey for you over such a long period of time and now some wonderful news at long, long last. I sincerely feel that Nollaig's survival and continual fight with PRCA has been made possible through the extensive research you have undertaken and the suggestions you have always put to your vet in the hope of trying another treatment. Well done and I'll be watching this space for more updates. Best wishes, Claire

Kathleen -- I have been thinking about you and Nollaig and Karen and Darcy and wondering how these beagle fighters are doing. So glad to hear the good news about Nollaig's PCV. It is so amazing how these dogs can hang on and give you time to find the right mix that seems to work for them. I hope that someday, the scramble to find the right mix will be replaced by vets knowing what works and getting that into the dogs right away. In the meantime, I am so happy for you and for Nollaig. Please keep us posted and know that all of us will continue to pray for you.

Just want to thank you all for your continued support and prayers for Nollaig,I really appreciate it and please continue to do so, as I really want her back, for her sake,to the healthy, energetic 3 year old that she should be.As long as she continues slowly but surely to raise that pcv, that would be heaven. Silka, please e-mail me direct on address link above, and I can send you more info on bioprep and the contact details of the guy who will tell you where to get it in Australia. Kathleen and Nollaig

Kathleen, Thank God for your good news! Little Nolliag! I've been away from the site for so long as I've had a horrible, violent tragedy in my family. But getting back into reality is helping a tiny bit. My little angel Layla is also doing well & is back to her happy self & I pray every day that she will stay that way. My best to you for continued good health with your baby. I feel we are always on thin ice with the recovery process. But in the long run in comparison to what I recently went through (losing my beloved little brother, 45 yrs. old in a senseless, violent death-murder) I don’t even know how to be. I pray for him and my dog & feel guilty for doing the latter. Please pray for me, as I am in a state of disbelief and complete despair. Terese Rose
