| Just got Nollaig's blood results and as I was expecting not good - pcv from last Thursday was 15% down from 19.2% in a week so this Thursday she'll be below 11% at most unless something drastic changes. More worrying, her retic count was even lower than last two times he didn't have exact figure in front of him however he said it was about 10,000 which is poorly regenerative.Last week she was 50,000 and week before that 120,000 and the lower the pcv gets the higher the retic count should be possibly around 600,000. So he's now going to run the liver check for her which should be back tomorrow and start the nandrolone latest Wednesday(the type he has in stock is licensed for use every 3 weeks, it's given into the muscle and it releases itself gradually over this time-I just hope that's as effective a way as giving it every week -does anyone know if it is?!)Depending on the liver result will determine whether he reduces dosage of danazol or just stops it completely. To me it's not working anyway and I imagine anything it was going to do would have happened by now as that's a month she's been on it. Please pray hard everyone as Nollaig has to turn this around very soon, as no more transfusions are being done-she's had 5 now and in a way I think they're possibly confusing her marrow anyway into thinking i doesn't need to work.So I just have to leave it in God's hands now as nandrolone is the last possible drug to be tried. | Please know that we are sending our prayers and we hope the nandrolone is the answer and can get Nollaige's numbers to where they should be. Sending hugs and prayer across the ocean, Cheryl & Ginger |

Kathleen, Praying for you and Nollaig. We are hoping for a turnaround. I'm always reminded of Karen and Darcy in these situations, especially since Darcy is a beagle too. I know it's so hard, but try to stay positive. I hope that Nollaig is acting well, sometimes that's so much more hopeful and important than the numbers. Hugs, melissa and tiggs

Kathleen, I have sent you an email which includes Darcy's history and progress. It takes a while for the Doxycycline and supplements to kick in, so don't give up, no matter what the numbers might say. Where there is life, there is hope and I am praying for a miracle healing on Nollaig. I know that you are, too. Karen

I am thinking of you and praying for Nolliag. Your case is so similar to what happened to Scruffy who had a slowly droppping PCV and a retic count of less than 0.1 but coped with it quite well, until it got really low. Only I was not able to go on with treatment as you have. No matter what happens, you will always know that you have done every possible treatment to help her and now she must be the one to get her bone marrow to respond along with the new drug you are going to try. Through your posts and your vet's explanations of PRCA I have a much better understanding of what happened with Scruffy. I still believe she can and will recover. Positive thoughts and prayers to Scotland and Nolliag. Take care. Julie and Snoopy and Seth.

Thanks everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers-keep them up.Nollaig is still eating/toileting extemely well and barking madly especially when Neil,my husband is eating his dinner. She is bit weaker though.I just hope it's the case she has to get worse before she gets better!Be starting nandrolone injections tomorrow. Pray hard. Kathleen and Nollaig

Kathleen I've been closely following your posts on Nollaig and she's always in my thoughts. As Karen says, there is still hope and nandrolone may do the trick. The fact that she is still happy and eating is also reassuring because her body is at least coping with the gradual drop in pcv. I wish you all the very best for tomorrow. Thinking of you both, Claire

Kathleen, I was wondering if your vet had ever mentioned Mycophenolate (Cell Cept) to you. I have seen it work well in a few cases of AIHA/IMHA where other meds have not worked. Here is some info from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycophenolic_acid and here is mention of Mycophenolate in one of the Success Stories at MH http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/archives12.htm scroll down to Toby's story, March 2004. Just a few thoughts for whatever they might be worth.
