Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - No ordinary dog

You probably know that I am very passionate about Dog Agility. Ripley and I had a very good weekend. I haven't got the tally for Meisha's Hope yet, I don't think it is a lot:( I was a bit disappointed about that and also that Ripley and I did not have a single clean round. I had to look back and realize that we have only been working together in Agility for a little over 3 months, since I lost Kahlu. So since Ripley ran very focused and fast, he reacted well to my early and late cues :) I should be very happy! Still lots to learn for both of us.
This morning, perfect timing, I read this blog, I think you will all like it, because it refers not only to Agility dogs:

Have lots of fun with your dogs today,

Hi Bridgette
Good for you---getting out to play with Ripley and doing your agility thing!!! Sometimes it is sooo hard to move on after a tragic loss. Kahlu was probably smiling down on you as he watched you run your courses.
I've been there myself, being both an agility competitor and trainer. The first trial is always the hardest, I think. Once you get that one under your belt it gets much easier. I'm so glad to hear your back competing!----Doing agility with your best friend is "good for the soul"!!
Warmest wishes Maureen

Brigitte,

That article was so true. Loved the part about shaking hands with her, and how it was like she touched your soul. I think everyone's dog is the most special to them.

With Toqua her eyes have always espressed so much more than her body. She is brindle with these glowing light brown eyes. It is as if looking into them is looking right into her soul. And when she looks into your eyes it is like she is doing the same. It is amazing to watch her solving problems. Like that grouse that is in a tree, no higher than a few inches out of her reach (this has happened on more than one occasion). To lokk into her eyes you can see her figuring things out. It has always amazed me - the intelligence in her eyes.

She will live on forever in my heart, but also in Finley. He has picked up so many of her mannerisms (just like humans). He has, of course, being our "dough-head" added his own quirks. He copies everything Toq does. Like cleaning teh gunk out of his eyes, just like she does. And then there is the grass eating. Toqua will go around the whole yard, and only eats the choicest of blades. Well, Fin chows down on grass like a friggin' cow! He didn't quite grasp it like Toq has. Once he sees her eating grass he finds a clump and devours the whole thing. I may not need to cut my grass at all this year! Ha ha. :)

So I know when her time is up, Fin will carry her into teh future, and the next one will learn from him taking Toqua's mannerisms on. She will always be here.

Thanks for sharing!

Great story. I know that anything you raised for Meisha's Hope will be appreciated after all each dollar does add up. I am glad you had a great weekend with Ripley.
