| I am thrilled to announce that Newman reached the 1 year since onset of IMHA mark as of Oct. 16. He is doing really well although is still on Prednisone and Azathioprine. Newman and I have qualified to compete at the USDAA Agility Nationals (World Cynosport Games) in Scottsdale, Arizona so we are packing up the car and making the 4-day drive to Arizona next week. His internal medicine specialist advised against flying since Newman has never flown before and he travels so well in the car. I am so proud of Newman! He has endured so much and does it all with a smile on his face...which always puts a smile on mine. We are going to try to get him off the meds in January. His specialist does not want to try while we are travelling and a few weeks after we get home from Arizona we will be back in the car to go to Florida for Christmas where my sister lives. I treasure every day I have with my dogs. They make me smile like no one else can. It's been a rough road but for everyone who's fur kids are fighting for their lives, have faith. As sick as they are now you have to believe they can get through it. Newman and many, many others are proof. Now I just have to keep that same faith when we get him off the meds! ;-) |

| Thank you for this Louise. It is so heartening to hear how well Newman is doing. I loved what you said about Newman enduring so much and with a smile on his face. My dog, Duck, is the same. You are right to treasure every day you have with your dogs - they are precious companions. Good luck with the medication reductions in January and please keep us up-dated of Newman's progress. Take care. deb and Duck |
