Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Newbie with Evans
| I just wanted to introduce myself and my baby Lola. Lola is a 6yr old, FS, MLH Dachshund. She was diagnosed last Thursday with Evans Syndrome. I am vey lucky that I work for an awesome and very progressive veterinary clinic, so her care is great. Even with all of my experience, it's never the same until it's your pet. She is doing fairly well with her current drug therapy and we are awaiting her splenic FNA just to rule out lymphosarcoma. Her coombs was negative. Her pcv is hovering between 26-30 so that's great. Her platelets etc have come up as well. I am so happy to see all of the wonderful support on here, but also it is so sad that we have so many with this disease. |

| Courtney, Also sending some prayers Lola's way from Holly also a miniature dachshund. Holly has been fighting since March 2007 and continues to push on very slowly. Linda |

| Prayers and good thoughts for Lola. Those are decent pcv numbers. What is Lola's drug regimen? My Alaskan Malamute is a 5+ year survivor of Evans Syndrome. |

| Hi Courtney, Sending good wishes Lola's way. Hope she keeps up the fight! I too have a FS miniature dachshund. Tipsi battled Evan's syndrome as well. She is coming up on her 1 year anniversary very soon and continues to battle but is luckily winning at this point. Keeping you and Lola in my thoughts, Layla & Tipsi |

| Lola continues to be in the mid to high 20's w/ her pcv. She has started eating again willingly and her attitude is much better, she even played with my 8mo old doxie like old times. Naturally I am cautiously optimistic. Fer splenic fna was normal and bone marrow clear, great news to rule out lymphosarcoma. One day at a time right.... She takes Neoral 25 mg bid, Pred 5 mg bid, Azathioprine 1/4 tab eod, Famotidine 10 mg 1/4 bid. Cerenia prn for vomiting (off since Tues) and Reglan prn for nausea (off since tues). |
