Hello, I've been lurking for a few days to read all the info. My dog, Nibs, became sick about a month ago. Her hematocrit was 6 and she received a transfusion. Her hematocrit came up to 26. She is being treated with pred and cyclo. She received a unit of packed cells on Tues (hct dropped to 10) For the past week she has been sleeping most of the time, waking to go to the bathroom or get water. Her gait is unsteady and she has edema around her neck and abdomin. The edema has been lessening after the transfusion. Doctor saw her today and her count was up to 40. I have to hand feed her. Sometimes it is difficult giving her meds. That's about it. We're hoping and praying.

Shirley... If Nibs' count is up to 40 he is doing great! If it holds after the transfusion that is good news. We have never been above 30 since July. Good luck, Ron & Daisy

Nibs has had vomiting and diarrhea since yesterday. She is drinking water at times. Thanks for the well wishes.
