Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Molly Update

Just a quick update on Molly from Kansas City. She had blood work done yesterday and the PCV is still 20--however, that is good because she isn't slipping backwards. She eats everything in site including our other dog's food. Tons of water which means more potty trips. Her spirit is much better even though she sleeps a lot right now. She is still on 100% bed rest (yeah, that's right, bed rest for a dog). We have to carry her up/down stairs, out to the yard, etc. and potty trips are on a leash even though we have a large fenced yard. This is to save energy and not over-exert her heart.

Thanks again to everyone for your support. I am hoping that Molly is on her way to a higher PCV # and remission!

Linda,

That sounds wonderful, thanks for sharing. It sounds like Molly is on the right track, and getting lots of TLC.

Glad to hear your good news! Our Lucy eats our other dog's food as well - he is a 10 lb pomeranian and only eats a little as a time so we pick his dish up when he is done so she can't get to it. We have been using a different schedule for feeding - we give them smaller amounts four times a day instead of just breakfast and dinner because Lucy is always looking for more. It makes it easy to give the pills, though, lol.

Keep up the good fight!

Great to hear that Molly's PCV is remaining steady.
Keep up the good work.

Linda,
Steady is good. Hopefully when you have the next check done the meds will have had enough time to kick in and you will see a rise in the number. Remember to try to gauge how she is doing by how she acts not just on test results. The little things mean a lot when your in this fight.
