Mitch had his human immunoglobulin on Thursday and I collected him last night (Friday). His bloods were taken on Friday and they showed no change which was dissapointing as from what I have read results with this treatment is quite instant. Anyway his bloods are not worse than they were on Monday which is good because things were getting really critical. Anyway he came home having spent the whole journey trying to climb off my daughters knee and onto mine(I was driving)! On arriving home I took him straight into the garden to 'go' but he whipped round and ran back in the house charging about looking for my husband, satisfied himself he wasn't there and then wanted to charge round the garden telling the whole world he was home! We are supposed to keep him calm! He has remained bright over the whole of his illness but definately more the usual Mitch we know and love at the moment. He is still pale but has typical terrier mentality which I truly believe has got him this far. There is another drug going to be tried with him next week but I cannot remember the name of it. It has been successful in a similar case. The vets are certainly not giving up on him either and are amazed at how much fight he has in him. This is a day at a time right now but once again he is hanging on and giving us that few more days of hope. Whilst he is bright clearly we will continue to fight as long as he is but it was looking so bleak a few days ago as his bloods were spiralling down that a few days looked extremely hopeful. If he can even remain static hopefully we can find something that will help him turn that corner. Thanks for all you kind thoughts and prayers - they seem to be working thus far! Kath |

Glad the hospital aren't giving up on him - they're recognising Mitch's desire to beat this and that's very important, never underestimate the power of the sufferer's own mind and will to overcome.Mitch has typical terrer mentality and Nollaig has that stubborn strong willed beagleness too-I just pray their bone marrow can come back from it's holidays SOON! Are you getting to keep him at home next week, hope so, then you can start the bioprep.Would they not be willing to administer it there, not sure if they would if it's not licensed, but then it's not a drug? I checked with Rory,Nollaig's internal med specialist at Glasgow with regards to bioprep(he asked for all the info on it) and he had no problems with Nollaig having it but that might be different than them actually administering it while under their care-no harm in asking though. Mitch has typical terrer mentality and Nollaig has that stubborn strong willed beagleness too Go Mitch!! Kathleen and Nollaig

Kath, So happy to hear that your "little man" is home, feeling energetic and greeting everyone. It sounds like he's a fighter, so there's half the battle won. I have no idea how close you are in Scotland to Kathleen, but she can certainly give you some good advice and support. I know she's in there with the rest of us, cheering Mitch along to a complete recovery. Karen

Wonderful news. Your heart must be over-joyed on having your baby home and him feeling so sprite and like his old self. I am praying Mitch will stay this way, in good spirits and good health, and that the next round of treatment will be the one that gets him healed again. This good news brightens my day. Good luck and take care.

Great to hear Mitch came home and is running about. You are right to try and keep him calm. Avoid any stress for him if at all posible. I'm wondering what the new drug will be you will be trying next week. How's Mitch today? Prayers and best wishes to you, your family and our little buddy Mitch. Johnny & Tessy
