Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Missing Holly - 1 year on

Well today is the anniversary of Holly's passing and I have missed her so much and think about her constantly. I found yesterday particularly hard as it was my birthday and though I was enjoying the day with family and friends my mind was full of last year's traumatic events. I will light my Holly candle tonight not just for her but all those that did not make it and those currently fighting it. x

Dear Keri
The anniversary of the day of our pets passing is always a rough one to get through, but each year the pain seems to become less and less and eventually you will begin to remember the little things Holly did to make you smile. And in time her passing will not be as painful and I do think the first year is the worst.
However we never forget them we just learn to live with them in our hearts.
I am glad you had your family and friends with you on your birthday as sometimes they will help take your mind off loosing Holly. Remember Holly is at peace now.

Happy Birthday.

Keri, I know how you're feeling. The first anniversary of Bronwyn's death was really hard for me, too (last December). I dreaded it; I spent a lot of the day crying and being depressed. I still miss her terribly, but for me that first anniversary was somewhat cathartic. Getting through it helped me start on the way to healing. I stopped keeping track of how many weeks it had been since she died; I stopped thinking of her so much with tears and more with smiles and laughter. Hang in there: I know it's hard, but Cheryl's right - it will get easier with time. And - Happy Birthday.

I'm real sorry for this sad anniversary date. I do want to say "Happy Birthday" to you though. I am glad you have family and friends to give you support and comfort. Take care.
